Creo Utilities

I’ve recently gotten my hands and mind around Pro/TOOLKIT and have been developing a series of add-ons and tools to improve the Creo experience:

  • Open the drawing associated with the active model
  • Remind users to save their work (based on timer) with button to do so
  • Warn before saving a model in a newer Creo version, with options to cancel or continue
  • Detect a circular reference immediately and warn the user with undo what caused it
  • Show what changed in an active model since the last save
  • Detect weak dimension before finishing a sketch and warn user

I’m considering making these available through my GitHub as a set of utilities to extend Creo. What other ideas or needs do you have? Would any of these be useful to you? No TOOLKIT license is required to use them. They’re simple add-ons enabled through a configuration option.

      I have many ideas for such utilities. One example is for a utility that will set the layer display in selected drawing views (or all views on a dwg sheet) independent of the model layer display in an automated fashion. Drawing templates do not support the definition of layer states in a template. Upon cursory inspection it appears that the calls are available to implement this depending on which API you are working with. If the function call exists to assign a layer state to a view on a drawing sheet independent of the model layer display, then it should be workable.

      If you are interested in developing this then we can have a discussion directly to generate a product requirements document for the functionality in detail. I assume you would not want to load such details into this thread for every idea explored.
