Define a CG location on imported part

We regularly download vendor STEP and IGES files for use in our designs.  Some of these downloads are assemblies that we bring into Creo as a single part.

The vendor lists the weight and the CG location of the assembly on their spec sheet.  We know how to make the imported part 'weigh' what it needs to weigh based on the part volume.  How do we go about defining the CG of the CAD model so it represents the reality of the vendor model?

Creo 8.0.0.0

Thanks

Assign the mass properties to the import models. Refer to the link below to get started (assigned properties). You can assign mass properties from a file which may be the way to go if you do this often.

The downside to this approach is that if an upstream large assembly user wants to measure mass they have to know to change the radio box to the "assigned" mass properties to get the correct answer.

Another way to do this is to change the density of the part to be 0 and then add a second body at the CG that you assign all of the mass to.
