Design Exploration Session as a Historical Record?

Does a Design Exploration Session .tmu file capture a historical record of the design iterations within the Checkpoints even AFTER the session has been Accepted and then the models have been saved, i.e., are you able to open a DEX Session .tmu file and review the design progression, even after a Checkpoint was Accepted and saved to the models?  The testing I’ve done indicates that the .tmu does not accurately store this information but when I watch tutorials and read literature on DEX, everything seems to indicate that it should store the historical record. Am I missing something? Doing something incorrectly?
