Can a component be hidden in a detail view? (I understand you can only do father views)

You can not hide components in a detail view only in the parent view (at least up to Creo 4)

I wanted to do something like this and ended up just making another view with partial visibility, scaled to see the details, and doing all the component blanking and other adjustments like in any other view. You don't get the view arrow(s) or the automatic identification of the detail view, but I was willing to sacrifice that convenience for being able to show the components the way I needed.

I agree, this is how I work around the issue if I can not hide the parts in the parent view.

Either that or in the parent view, I make a local section (breakout) to remove the area of the part I need to see behind.
