Question

Duplicated part in Multibody design

Hello,

I was wondering if anyone had any tips for handling a body which is defined in a multibody part file but then also occurs multiple times in said file.  For example, let’s say you have an injection molded housing and insert molded in all four corners of that housing is a custom metal component.  The metal piece is identical at all four positions.  Obviously this part is best modeled as a single instance in the multibody file and then extracted out as a single part.  I am looking for tips or best practices for how the other 3 instances should be handled.

Thanks in advance!

Hello,

Do you mean that the geometry is identical for the four parts, but each of these four parts have a different material?

Hello,

Thanks for the reply.  Actually no, in this case the four parts are identical.

Regards.

Then I do not understand your question. If they are identical (geometry and material), then the normal process is create one part, share it (button "Share") three times and moves them in the right position. You will get quantity 4 in the bill of material and only one detail drawing. If not, please tell more.
