Element Type and Meshing in Generative Design

Hello eveyone,

 

I am currently using the Creo Parametric Educational version 12.4.0.0, more specifically the "Generative Design" tool but without the Generative Design Extension (GDX). What element type or meshing is used by the software/tool? The answer would help me to compare my optimized model design with results from an external FEM software.

Hi @LW_13610221 

 

I'm not sure why the element type is important to you in topological optimization (Generative design), as there are many parameters that influence the outcome.
I'll give you a few parameters that influence the outcome: the filter (which isn't mentioned in almost any software), the convergence criterion, the optimization algorithm, and more.
In the Generative design module, you can specify the minimum element size.

Thank you for the quick reply,

 

I already adjusted many influencing factors such as the fidelity level, optimization goal etc. and evaluated their effect on the results. As my next step, I want to import the generated, reconstructed designs into an external FEM software and compare the analysis results of Creo Parametric and the FEM software. Therefore, it would be very helpful to be able to compare the element types between the software additionally to the settings that Creo GD offers.
