export STEP files

Anyone know how to export STEP file of an assembly with the model tree names that will import to other software(s) (Inventor, Maser Cam).  Once imported the model tree names are not the same as what I exported?

Any thoughts?

THAT is a very good question... It is a bit perplexing why that is done like that...

 

As I recall - other imports from other CAD systems via STEP don't do that when imported into Creo.  Maybe I am wrong.

 

Have you tried different STEP export profiles and specs to see if there is a difference?

Yes, I have tried all the options/settings for a STEP file export.
