Help Needed: Images in Creo keep disappearing

I am having a problem with images that are inserted to surfaces of parts. After inserting an image, I saved the file close Pro-E completely. After re-opening Creo, the image disappears, but the part surface is still in its specified color. I thought it could be a file reference issue, but the image will disappear regardless of where the file is located.
