How to avoid the confusion for CREO when using middle mouse button?

1)Since the middle mouse button is assigned to both "done/return/Escape"" and "rotate model", it is quite often that my CREO is confused about what I am actually wanting: rotate model so as to see the other side of it for facilitating feature selection in {Assembly mating, Measuring, assignments of BCs and loads (in Simulate), etc.}.

 

Is there a simple way to avoid this and make CREO's life easy? 

 

2)When assigning BCs to 200 surfaces, I have to hold down the Ctrl key in order to make multiple selections. If by accident the mouse click when the Ctrl key were not pressed, all the previous selection would gone.

 

Is there a simply way to avoid this and make designer's life easy?

1) Quick-Fix 1: Downloaded X-Mouse Button Control app from online for free. Then set Right Mouse Button = Middle Click.

2)Quick-Fix 2: Found a large binder clip and clamped down Ctrl key during multiple mouse selections.

 

(My model has more than 100 identical coolant cells stacked together. I have to manually select the top and bottom surfaces of each coolant cell for applying BCs.)

Set up your Creo environment and selection filters to enable rather than hinder your use of the mouse MMB. The MMB is context sensitive and dependent on windows focus as well as Creo mode/command structure. Having a good understanding of how the UI is intended to work may help some of these issues.

 

Assuming windows focus is not an issue then altering the selection filter on the fly may be helpful to avoid the "confusion".

 

You can also use a 3D mouse for spin/pan/zoom operations. I recommend this if you spend most of your time in CAD environment.

 

For surface selection you can employ advanced selection techniques such as seed and bound selection. This is available within Creo simulate environment.

1) When trying to rotate, be sure to move the mouse before letting go or it will perform "done/return/escape" for you.  My biggest problem is pressing the MMB when zooming, but I just need a lighter touch or a stronger wheel.

 

2) Do not have a way avoid that selection that deselects you previous selections.  If possible, apply BCs to smaller groups.  Also use selection techniques such as intent select, seed and boundary, and loop surfaces.

There is always more to learn.

If losing your selections for a surface set is a recurring issue you can create a datum intent surface reference and complete the feature after n selections to save an intermediate snapshot of your selection progress. This would be analogous to saving your part while working on it to capture features as they are added to avoid losing work. It beats reselecting 100 surfaces manually. If you are really having to manually select hundreds of surfaces I would be interested to see the geometry  and why advanced selection techniques are not working.
