How to export a part as STEP file with cosmetic sketches visible?

I've created a part model with lettering as a cosmetic sketch, and have been trying to export this part as a STEP file. However, whenever I open the step file, the lettering is completely missing. How can I ensure the cosmetic sketch lettering is visible on the exported STEP file?

If the datum option in the export filter is not active, try turning that on and report back. I would also use the ap214_is protocol as shown below.

Hi, I don't seem to have that menu when I have been saving as a STEP file. I have been saving the file as a copy with the file extension set to .stp, is there some other way I should be exporting to get these options?

File->Save as -> Save a copy

Don't use cosmetic sketches, they're total garbage for a number of reasons.  Use a datum curve instead, and that should output if you have the "Datums" checked.

Okay, that is useful for future reference, but I have already used a cosmetic sketch here. Is there any way to get this to display on a STEP file?

I can confirm that it is possible to export a cosmetic sketch to a STEP file from within Creo. I have done it multiple times this week using the method I posted above.

Make sure your cosmetic sketch layer is not hidden (you can check it thru view >> layers)

And then try to save as step, with settings that @tbraxton mentioned,

It should be including cosmetic sketch into step file
