Import large .pts file and create surface/facets

Hi,

I've got a very large .pts file (more than a billion points).

When trying to import it inside Creo Parametric, it doesn't seem to recognise it.

Is there a limit on how many points it can handle?

Or is there a better way of doing this?

Currently, I'm using a different software to view these points. This is fine for viewing but when I try to export my design/model into it, that's when it gets annoying as I lose sketches, datums, etc. and it is very time-consuming to constraint/place my model inside the points cloud.

I'd appreciate any help on this.

Yes, there is a limit if you're not using REX. See https://www.ptc.com/en/support/article?n=CS281410 14,043,584 points per point feature. You can split the pts file into multiple files if necessary.

With REX there is not a limit (besides your computer setup). See https://www.ptc.com/en/support/article?n=CS201117
