Question

IMPOSSIBLE UNBEND PROPERLY A SHEET METAL SWEEP

Good morning to everyone, also if I am an old Creo-Pro/Engineer User this is my first approach to the community :-)

Every part modeled in the sheet metal environment must be unfoldable in its flat pattern configuration; otherwise, I will model it as a non-unfoldable solid part, since I would not have the features and utilities of a sheet metal part.

I opened a ticket a couple of weeks ago, but it seems there are not solutions.

How can we scalate this issue to have a solution from PTC ?

The Creo sheet metal unfold is designed for press brake types of operations. You have modeled a rolled part and that will not unfold as the software does not see it as being bent.

There are some tricks you can play if you create it as a large radius bend with a very short straight section at one end.

Hi Ben, and why can I unfold this ? Second point: it is a sheet metal part and you have to unbend it, otherwise don’t give me the possibility to model it in that way.

I am surprised that you can unfold that one as it is more of a drawing operation to form that shape.
