Insert Table into Symbol Gallery?

I have a neat table I would like to add to the server symbol gallery so drafters can easily snag it and add to to a text editor (or just add it to the note).  I know you can add it from Table > Table from File and had it floating, and then possibly anchor it to a note, but I was looking for a way to add the custom table directly to the note from the symbol gallery.  Any Ideas?

I've done some simple tables as symbols by creating them as symbols from the beginning (basically boxes with variable text in them), then making the symbol customizable so I can choose the number of rows and add the variable text. It's cumbersome and doesn't allow you to resize the columns, but it's the only workaround I know of.

 

This has generally been in order to put tables on MBD parts, since Creo doesn't support tables in MBD.

By maintaining a symbol library path and use of the following config option it is possible to make this available to all users in your environment with the proper launch scripts and config files etc.

 

set the configuration file option pro_symbol_dir. This automatically creates a search path to the specified directory.

Hi Braxton, thanks for your reply.  I have all that set up.  I cant add a table to an assembly/part when annotating, so I would like to add a table to the text editor. Or be able to convert my .tbl file to a .sym file so I can add it to annotation

One option is to place the table in an empty drawing and then export the table as DXF and then use the DXF file to create a custom symbol. This would be a static (dumb) symbol i.e., it would not be driven by changes to the table.

 

I am not aware of a method that supports a Creo table as the master object for a parametrically driven custom symbol. Perhaps someone else will know if that is possible.
