Question

Limiting sub-components with certain parameters from being saved (ex. "ELECTRICAL")

ModelCHECK should be able to limit subcomponents in an assembly from being saved based on parameters.

This is extremely helpful when considering IDX files because ECAD parts (ex. capacitors/resistors) that don’t have existing 3D models get imported with the “ECAD_PART_PARAM” set to “ELECTRICAL”. By refusing check-ins for these parts, we can insure that new geometry from the ECAD software is imported each time.

ModelCheck does not control what gets checked in and what doesn’t.

If you keep brining in the same component each time you do an import, you clutter the system with multiple components of the same part just with different numbers/names.

There needs to be a better way to organize and reuse the same component. Using a Library for these may be a solution as it can limit who can check out and check in components.

Agreed that ModelCheck doesn’t control what is checked in, however, it should control what is able to be saved in Creo. Without being able to save these parts, users wouldn’t be able to check them in either. This way, the database doesn’t get cluttered.

Ideally, we would have a library for these parts, however we don’t have bandwidth for that since our database of electrical parts is so large.
