Make a keyboard shortcut for changing windows

Creo Parametric 10

I want to make a keyboard shortcut, which can change windows, so shortcut for this button here.

I have tried go to options, customize, and keyboard shortcut. But I only found other things like save, activate...

But windows isn't here.

Mapkey also don't work.

Every time changing parts or assemblys have to click to this button is not quick, so it is better to have a shortcut.

Can someone help? Thanks.

  • Using ALT+TAB or WIN+TAB to switch between Creo windows
  • In Creo Parametric 3.0 and later:
    • Window will activate automatically when the configuration option activate_window_automatically is set the default value yes

Reports indicate that this config option is not 100% effective as there are interrupts in the Creo code that prevent it from working in some instances. You can always use CTRL+A to manually activate a window.

Not sure if this is what you are looking for, but I typically have many windows open and I just use Alt-Tab on the keyboard to toggle between the various windows. If you want to go in reverse order, Alt-Shft-Tab. It also is handy for toggling between Creo and other program windows that are open.

    Hi,

    AFAIK it is not possible to create such mapkey.

    It is not possible to create mapkey "calling" shortcut displayed in Quick Access Toolbar

     

    2.]

    Windows button is also available on View tab.

    Unfortunately it is not possible to create mapkey "clicking" this button.

    To "click" this button you can use keyboard ... press ALT then v then wn

    In 2024 I solved the same problem using AutoIT. This tool enables you:

    3a.] to send keyboard sequence to Creo

    -OR-

    3b.] to move mouse cursor to Quick Access Toolbar button and click LMB.

    I wanted to add this tip for Windows users:

     

    In Windows apps, the buttons assigned to their "quick access" toolbar are typically accessible by pressing ALT+# where # is the number of the button.

    From your image, I can't tell where that button is on the quick-access toolbar.  But for sake of illustration, let's assume it is the 5th one from the left.  So then ALT+5 would activate that "Windows list" button.

     

    Anyway, if you press and release the ALT key, then the sequence of keyboard strokes you need to press to activate the buttons on the quick-access toolbar and the ribbon will show up.

    For example, on my system, that "List of Windows" button is the first one in all my quick-access toolbars:

    So in any Creo window, pressing ALT+1 will open for me the list-of-windows dropdown.  Then the next # that I press in will activate that model... makes switching between Creo models pretty quick.

    Hi,

    just a small clarification ...

    In Creo ALT+# has different meaning than in Windows.

     

    Explanation of ALT+# in Creo:

    • press ALT key and release it immediatelly ... you will see tags attached to commands/buttons
    • press # key and release it immediatelly ... corresponding command is executed
