Question

mm to inch conversion

The PRT which is the drawing based on has International System units (mm) settings.

 

Whenever the generated DXF is opened, the Creo 9 drw convert dimensions from mm to inch and it is not intended. I'm not being able to find conversion in the drawing module.

 

Don't know if the conversion occurs in the DXF exportation or in the drw generation from the exported DXF.

Open the DXF file in a text editor and search for INSUNITS.  Should see something like below.

If the value highlighted is a 4, the length unit is MM. 

Here are some other values for different units of length.

If the DXF is in millimeters, then the software that is importing the DXF is doing the conversion. 

Are you importing into another file or are you opening the DXF directly?

Same issue here, using CREO 13 Flat pattern export. Everything is in mm, but the resulting DXF is not.

Check this out…

  • Open the drawing.
  • File → Prepare → Drawing Properties
  • Click Change
Check the settings. Save for future use.

    This is correct and hopefully it fixes OP’s issue.

    I had figured this out myself after posting here, but sadly this doesn’t fix my issue:

    Also look for the setting in config.pro

    drawing_setup_file → should point to the config.dtl where the units are set to mm.

    If it doesn’t then the settings would not be stored in memory. Settings changed in dxf_template.drw need to be saved in that file. Else it would apply only for that session.

    Also check config.sup for any default template file setting.

    I know it is confusing but check for the settings following the below order

    • config.sup
    		  
    • config.pro
    		  
    • config.dtl
    		  

     
    • dxf_template.drw
