Moulded Parts Machined Surfaces

Hello All

I am trying find the best way of modeling parts, that are metal injection moulded and then milled, drilled and tapped.

We need a file for the raw moulded part and one for the machined part.

If something is changed in the raw part, the machined version should be able to be updated.

What is the best way of implementing this. Shall we use copy geometry, family tables or Simplified reps?

Thanks for your help!

Best wishes

Alex

Model the molded part, inherit it into the machined part and make the machining cuts.

Or

Model the finished part, creating the molded form with the machined cuts at the end.  This would then be inherited into the molded part, suppressing the machined cuts.
