New to PT CREO2.0

Hello,

My name is Peter, I'm new to CREO2.0 and have a basic question I cant seem to work out myself or have searched for.

Firstly a bit about me, I work with rotary engines and manufacture parts and also calibrate PCM and ECU in after market applciations, dip diploma of Mechanical Engineering in 1994 and have worked with Mastercam, Inventor as a Fitter and Turner, have been out of the CAD seen for a while but needing to get back into it now due to desiging parts and want to have it in forms I can give to CNC programmers etc...........

SO where am I at.

I have worked out through the on-line resources how to create a part/s in sketch mode and extrude the main component etc as per pics, the bit I am struggling with is when I reopen the sketch and do a parts measure its always displaying in 'inches' I have tried everything I know to configure the defaults to display this in mm, but just cannot get it to work.

I have set the assembly in metric units, i'd like to view the sketches in metric when I apply the measure tool.

For some reason the back ground now has gone black too?

Some help would be MUCH appreciated, steep learning curve for me as its not like other systems I have used (a long time ago) and I cant seem to move forward with it after quite a few hours stumbling around trying to work it out.

No mate, this is what I said above is not the case.

I ended up reinstalling the program and it is back to normal.

I have other issues now though that I cant generate a drawing from a 3D model it comes up with an error that there is no name FRONT view and some others that I just dont understand. I look and look for on-line hlep etc but find it very hard to find answers for these things.

PTC delivers help in the form of reference material. Like a dictionary, you need know how to spell the work before you can look it up.

Start with the following about configuration files. It will help to know how they tie into Creo so that you can see what controls the way Creo works.

Look for pro_unit_length

Also, this is only the case for new parts. If the part is based on a template, the part will use the units in the template part.

I can't tell from the original question what problem you exactly have. You mentioned measurements, but showed a sketch, which is dimensions and don't show units. Are you creating parts within the Assembly mode?

The background color is set by other config options and windowing configurations, but this will have to wait for a little to come back to.

Hello Toby,

No it was not answered really, what I ended up doing is reinstalling the program.

Since then I have moved on allot and have been able to do my designs and learned more about the program.

I really quite like it, read allot about how some hate it, I kind of was frustrated at the begining but about ~200 hours into it I feel like I am allot more comfortable with it.

Here is some detail of what I am working on, been able to generate and test my components (virtually) and now am into the manufacturing stage (14 seperate component parts out to manufacturers).
