Question

Parameter Exchange

I’ve kinda got a situation here…
Consider I have two diffrent teams working in my office. One team is sitting at a different country & the other is sitting at India. Now, both of them are working on a same rocket assembly & the parameters & relations which both the teams are using are different only in terms of names.
The result/output of the parameters that are needed are same. Now, if I want to bring them together, where CREO has to identify that 2 differently named parameters are the same & it has to consider a master parameter based upon the 2 named parameters…

Is there any way to do this???

Yes, this is possible, but Creo itself does not automatically understand that two differently named parameters are semantically the same. You need a mapping strategy.

Example

Team USA

Plain Text

THRUST_FORCE = 5000

ROCKET_WEIGHT = 1200

Team India

ENGINE_THRUST = 5000

VEHICLE_MASS = 1200

1. Create Master Parameters

Define a common corporate standard:

MASTER_THRUST

MASTER_MASS

Then map the local parameters to the master parameters.

Example:

MASTER_THRUST = ENGINE_THRUST

MASTER_THRUST = THRUST_FORCE

All relations and downstream models use only the master parameter.

Now, in a very similar way consider Team USA is having the same parameters (as mentioned above under Team USA) without any values at the moment & Team India is having the same parameters (mentioned under Team India above) with certain values.

Now, I have to call them into a BOM table in an assembly drawing sheet & here I want CREO to automatically pull the parameter that matches with each other & should only show the value of the parameter which is having a certain value & exclude the parameter that doesn’t have a value. In my case it is giving me 2 columns of parameters with & without values. I only need the BOM with values & CREO should automatically identify the parameters with values !

Is there any possible way to achieve this???

You need to develop standard design and drawing templates that have a single set of parameters and use them at all design locations.
