Real-time update in extrude tool

Has anyone else had any problems with the real-time update not working properly? When I'm creating an extrude feature, if I drag the handle for the extrude direction into the part, it doesn't create a cut; it allows me to change the length of the protrusion but won't change to a cut when it is drug into the existing part. This is frustrating because it seems to work on other employees computers but not mine.

Please check if you have the following config.pro setting:

auto_add_remove YES

I'm not sure that is the purpose of this option since the default is "no". If you are looking for Autoswitching, then yes, the option should resolve the problem.

I was having trouble with this as well... and it turned out that solid extrudes would not remove material from surface bodies, but when I switched to "thin" feature, it would let me remove material.
