Remove Top Status - What does this do?

I saw this question listed back in 2015 but never answered.

What does "Remove Top Status" do when you right click in the layer tree.  I've only seen it recently since I've been on Creo 7.

Hello @VladimirN

Thanks a lot to have provided documentation on this in above articles

Hello @Airfix

I'm afraid that articles won't be however enough for a good understandng of why and when Remove Top Status is proposed in Layer Tree. To help in this understanding:

  • Please consider that this not new to Creo Parametric 7.0 (we have cases dealing with this also in Pro/ENGINEER WIldfire 4.0)
  • This is a consequence of a very specific situation as follows:
    • Value no (default being yes) for save_display_status_in_submodel config.pro option when Layer Status were saved at assembly level
    • and retrieval later in a session where save_display_status_in_submodel is now yes (default then)
  • I illustrated the use case in little commented movie attached to this post, in order to help in the understanding of what happens behind the scene

Regards,

Serge
