reroute all references from a copy-geom to surface

Hi All
I have a surface in a copy-geom which references many features in my model.
I now want to create a surface feature and remove the copy_geom so that it is no longer dependent on my skeleton model.

Is there a way to reroute all the references in one go?

With the clarification, I now understand the scenario. I would say AFAIK there is not a way to automate the rerouting of all features automatically. The first thing I would do is assess if it is faster to reroute or rebuild. Assuming reroute is worth trying you would create the new parental surface(s)/quilt(s) in the model before the copy geometry feature. This new quilt/surfs can then be used to reroute the dependencies of the children of the copy geometry manually. Since you are in Creo 10 there are new child handling options available for quilt references that may streamline this for you (see first video link below). You likely would not have to manually reroute all of the references of the dependent features, check out these two videos which may be relevant to getting this done faster.

Maybe but probably not, it depends on the features/geometry. Your problem statement is not clear to me. Is this an external copy geometry feature or is it dependent on the assembly with the skeleton model that is a parent to the copy geometry?

Is one of the following statements accurate, if not please provide more details on the nature of the dependencies of the models and features?

1) You have a copy geometry in a part model that is the parent to many downstream features in this model. You need to reroute all children of this copy geometry in the part and delete the copy geometry feature automatically.

2) You have a copy geometry that references many features in a skeleton model and have used this copy geometry in a part model. You want to make the copy geometry independent of the skeleton model so it will never parametrically update going forward?

You can certainly make the copy geometry independent from the parent model in one shot. Just be advised that when you do that you will not be able to make it dependent again according to PTC (there is an unsupported method to do this if necessary).

Without seeing your models, it is hard to say what would be "best".

Answers to your questions:

Yes it is an external copy-geom from a skeleton model.
The copy geom is parent to many down stream features within the model and I'd like to reroute all the children in one go if possible.
No I don't want to make the copy geom independent - I want to create a new surface in my model in place of the copy geom so it's no longer dependent on the copy geom or the skeleton such that the ability to parametrically update the model going forward is maintained and independent of the skeleton.
I would never make a copy geom independent - that's a one way trip to disaster if you ever want to modify anything.
Apologies I can't share any models - there's IP at stake.

There is no one shot replace this with that that I know of.

I would suggest suppressing the original feature and in the Suppress options, set all features to suspend. You can then work your way down the tree, using Edit References to reroute the failed features. You can also select several features at once for Edit References, though Edit References may get more confusing the more you select.

There is always more to learn.
