Simple Rep Assembly features suppression

It would be very useful to include the ability to hide/ suppress assembly level features (i.e. cuts, holes, revolve.) for use in creating simple reps of the assembly if it has post operations after assembly that take place.

The example I have for this is two copper half shell parts that will be brazed together in an assembly, after the brazing process there are machined ports and outer diameters that will need to be turned down to size. Currently I cannot hide/ suppress the hole and revolve cuts that I have at the brazed assembly level to have two views of the assembly; one representing the pre-machining braze operation and the other representing the post-brazing machine operations. 

I’m aware that a work around for this is to include these post brazing operation machined features at the part level and create a user defined rep to carry through to the assembly level. However this method could cause confusion in the future if someone needs to revise the model and doesn’t have the history/ legacy knowledge of the how and why the model was done in this manner causing a misinterpretation of design intent.

I’ve seen other work around solutions as well involving family tables, or the creation of a different assembly for just the brazing operations to then import into the drawing and have two different assembly files in the same drawing file, but none seem as simple and clear as just adding the ability to hide/ suppress the features directly at the assembly they are required at.

The use of assembly features should be considered carefully. In general, they should be avoided unless there is no other way to capture the design intent. There can of course be exceptions to this maxim. I would propose that you explore other options to deal with the geometry creation. They can cause problems in a variety of ways in the Creo environment.

If you provide more detail on exactly what you are trying to manage in Creo that requires the use of assembly features, then you might get some suggestions. There are multiple options to potentially deal with your issues using for example top-down design features. Inheritance features might be on option based on your description of the need to manage geometry variation as a result of multi-stage manufacturing processes.
