SOLIDIFY after BOUNDARY BLEND

I create a part using the BOUNDARY BLEND command and then OFFSET it. I wish to SOLIDIFY it now, I mean the offset geometry. Creo 11 Student Version does not like it. I am not sure why? Is there a GLITCH in Version 11 for the solidify command for geometry using the Boundary Blend?

I used the first option, thicken I mean, already but am looking for the entire space to be filled with solid. That was the reason I was using solidify to start with after the creation of the outer surface.

 

Once I wish to solidify, the quilt gets selected, but nothing happens when I invoke the solidify command. There are no surfaces to merge as Creo shows me a single quilt, which is the entire outer surface only.

 

The outer surface was created as part of a boundary blend with two curves in one direction and three circles in the second direction. This process was smooth indeed. But the resulting surface does not solidify.

 

Is there a way to thicken to vanishing space? I mean solidify purpose achieved but with no gap left inside the surface: all insides space is turned into a solid using just the thicken command!

you have to create closed volume before applying Solidify command.

Highly unlikely that your issue is a glitch in Creo. Post your model (use .zip archive) here so it can be assessed.

The two most likely issues are that the surface becomes self-intersecting at the offset value (min curvature of quilt is too small) or the quilt is not closed.

For a quick visual query, you can use offset analysis tool to visualize what happens with offset of the quilts.

    Hi,

    models saved in Student Version cannot be opened in Commercial version. Please publish pictures.

    Note: Before applying Solidify command all surfaces must be merge into one quilt.

    Most of us can not open a student version file.  Screen shots and more explanation of what you are trying to do is needed for us to make informed recommendations.

     

    My first thought is that you need to use thicken rather than offset to make a solid.

    There is always more to learn.

    This is what I will do and tried as well but thicken does not fill the entire internal volume. I will try to find another way to circumvent this issue. Thanks again.
