Trying to open old .mcs files - We think they're Creo files??

Our company has some old .mcs files that we believe may be openable by Creo. However, we're having trouble opening them. I've installed the Mathcad trial, Creo View Express 9, and Creo Elements Direct Modeling Express but have not been successful in opening the .mcs files. I applied for a Creo Elements Trial but never got the email to download it. If the files are what we think they are, they would be very valuable to us. We just need to figure out how to open them to check.

Have you tried to open the files in Notepad and see if the header information gives a clue as to the authoring aplication?
