Why is Floating license needed to use replace feature in assembly. When picked new-assembly-interchange- OK

Error message: You have not checked out the license option. Please click "File->Options->Floating Licenses" and choose required option.

The most likely issue is that you need to have the AAX (advanced assembly) license active to use the interchange function. If the AAX is not invoked at Creo startup then you would need to acquire the AAX license. Check to see if AAX is set up as a floating option in your environment.

    I think Interchange assemblies are specifically part of the AAX license.

    My first question, based on your post, do you need an interchange assembly or can you just use the "replace" function under Operations - replace and then Unrelated component and then choose your replacement component, then use edit ref table?  It creates a temporary interchange.

    Interchange assemblies are okay if you need to switch something a lot of times

    I like this approach. PTC charging us $18000 for a AAX license. SAD 😞

    (Cannot afford just to use interchange option. ) 

    Can you help more details on this? like an exercise?

    Youtube...here is one i found that shows the steps, its in a little older version of creo so a couple of picks are different.

    He shows 2 ways to get the references paired, make sure you watch both since sometimes the "evaluate" won't help so you will have to manually select your references.

    I haven't used interchange assemblies in years simply because replace does exactly what I need without the extra work of creating an interchange assy.

    I also sugest you unclick the "remember these components" block since it will make a reference you may not want. If you are replacing the same items over and over, the "remember these components" will function similar to an interchange assy for future replacements.

      Hi,

      if you expand the message window area at the bottom of Creo window, you will likely see a message that an AAX license is required for the requested functionality.
