Creo Ansys Simulation results displayed as wireframe

Hi

I am experiencing a visualization issue in Creo Ansys Simulation. (12.4.2.0)

The simulation completes successfully and the result legend/color scale is displayed correctly. However, when viewing the results, the part is displayed as a wireframe and the contour plot (fringe colors) is not shown on the geometry.

The issue occurs across all simulation types and result types that I have tested.

An interesting observation is that when I start a result animation, the contour colors immediately appear and are displayed correctly during the animation. Once the animation stops, the model returns to the wireframe-only display.

Has anyone encountered this behavior before?

Thanks

Yes, specifically in Creo 12 I have this problem too. I have not found it to be repeatable so it is hard to file a bug.

Hi @ProFeature

I see a couple of cases in our knowledgebase that report similar descriptions but for earlier releases.  The article related to those cases note that the behavior did not occur after these customers used “a more powerful” graphics card.

I think the first check would be to ensure your machine configuration supports Creo Ansys Simulation & is a supported Creo Parametric machine configuration.  If there is any model that can consistently reproduce this behavior on a supported machine configuration, it should be reported to support, though Michael has so far not found this repeatable.  Machine configurations can be found by selecting the Machine Vendor link on page 3 of the Creo 12.4 Hardware Notes

Hi @MikeBennett

Thanks for checking the knowledgebase. However, this behavior is occurring on a fully certified workstation configuration running the recommended PTC-certified graphics driver, so we can rule out an underpowered or unsupported GPU setup.

To isolate the issue, I have already tested this across environments and can verify that this exact regression persists in the newly released Creo 13.0.0.0.

Thanks

Hi @ProFeature,

Looking at the case related to the article, it looks like the “more powerful” graphics card was a decision made by the customer rather than a solution proposed by the TSE.  It is not clear whether or not the initial or final configuration was certified/supported or not.

If this can be reproduced on a supported configuration, the best course would be to report it as a support case and provide a model with an analysis result that can consistently reproduce the behavior and any other detail or setup information required.  Support can also attempt to reproduce the behavior on a supported device.
