Creo Simulate Output Files

Hi All,

I've been running many simulations on Simulate and in each simulation I change something small to see its impact. At the end, I am left with a huge folder containing all the simulate results and output files.

I'd like to know, which files can I delete such that I can later open my original model and still plot the results of the simulation? I basically want to free up some space without losing my simulation result.

For an analysis there are two folders

Analysis1/

containing part/parts/assy and associated info , logs, measures and ...

A sub directory called Analysis1

This sub directory contains binary (usually) files that are the stresses, displacements, rotations etc

This subdirectory of binary is 99% of the space taken up.

The files you can delete without damaging your results are relatively trivial in size.

Mechanica stores results in a different way to Ansys for example. Mechanica calculates and stores everything you asked for and 'throws away' the solution. It's results directories can therefore be large. A consequence of this is that if you forget to ask for it you have to re-run to get it.

Ansys 'store the solution' and calculate the answers as required.

In the analysis definition form you can deselect info you don't want to have calculated and stored and you can reduce the resolution of the grid of results calculated for plotting. This would speed up the analysis too.

Arguably, you can go into the subdirectory of binary files and, for example, delete the *.d0x files. These are the displacements. Stresses (*.s0x files) will still plot, deformed shapes will fail.

To re-run the model, you only need to save the model files, have a license, the time and a computer.
