Difference between mate two entities and align two entities for snapshots for dynamics analysis

I have been performing mechanism analysis for some time but I usually use align two entities and mate two entities option when creating initial point snapshots, either method gives me same results. I wonder what's the main difference between two options , I would like a very good use case to differentiate between them both.

Basically am trying to understand differences between ALIGN TWO ENTITIES option MATE TWO ENTITES option when you use drag feature to create snapshots for several named positions. This is usually applicable when performing mechanism in Creo to define initial start point of your mechanism not only dynamic mechanism , also static an others.
