How to simulate air gap inside an enclosure for thermal analysis?

Hello all,

I am currently working on a device that has a temperature sensor inside a sealed plastic case. The sensor is not touching the case so there is an air gap.  How can I simulate the transient thermal response of the sensor to a change in the external temperature?
