Question
Run Failed at Pass 1 - Nonlinear static analysis with thermal drift and contacts
I am using Creo Simulate Release 7.0 and Datecode7.0.10.0
SUBJECT: Creo Simulate: Nonlinear Static Analysis Fails at Pass 1 (Thermal Drift & Contacts)
1. SETUP SUMMARY:
- Objective: Evaluate deformation/stress under thermal drift.
- Model: 2-body assembly in Creo Simulate Structure Mode.
- Constraints: Fixed displacement on support frame.
- Loads: Thermal drift (20°C to 40°C).
- Contacts: Surface-to-Surface with finite friction (Static/Dynamic = 0.74).
- Fasteners: 2x screw-type (Ø4 mm, X5CrNi18-10, 6.8 head/nut) with 5949.6 N preload.
- Mesh (AutoGEM): Default settings (no extra controls).
- Analysis: Nonlinear static, Large Deformations, Contacts, Detailed Stresses at Contact Interfaces. Single-Pass Adaptive (Medium Accuracy).
2. ISSUE:
Nonlinear static execution stops immediately after Pass 1 with status "Run Failed".
3. SUPPORT REQUEST:
- What is the recommended procedure in Creo Simulate for defining frictional contacts to prevent nonlinear iteration failure?
- If replacing ideal fasteners with 3D-modeled solid screws, what is the correct workflow for handling frictional/non-frictional contact interfaces?
Here are the errors that I faced
The nonlinear iteration did not converge. Please review your loads and boundary conditions.
Run completed with fatal error.
