Arbortext Architect 5.4 fails on max number of attributes

My group has migrated from Epic 4.3.1 to Arbortext 5.4. We have one doctype that will not compile. It fails with this message:

"The maximum number of attributes allowed in a doctype (20000) has been exceeded.
Reduce the number of defined attributes or entities and recompile.
Compile failed - rc=64"

Is there anyway to increase this limit? We changed ATTCAP to various values up to 100000 in the SGML declaration, but it had no effect on the 20000 reported, so it seems like a hard coded limit, but that limit is too small for our purposes.

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

    Debra,

I'm curious what the resolution to this was. We are having the same exact problem.

Dorothy: We encountered this problem again recently, and corrected by raising the ATTCAP limit in the sgml.decl file. I think we had problems before because I was not pointing to the correct sgml.decl in the Arbortext path file. Good luck.
