Question

Arbortext Editor 5.4

My company has recently upgraded to Arbortext Editor 5.4. When I copy and paste a table from a word file (docx) using the paste special feature I get an “invalid paste structure” dialog box. I have tried to use the “table with no title” option but then all my content is wrappedwithin para tags. My tables are very simple tables, I’ve even tried to copy empty tables but get the same error. What am I missing? With your response please keep in mind that I’m just a user.

Thanks JB

Careful... people will start to think that you are a nerd for using
    this list. 🙂

    Hi Juliette-

Are you trying to paste into an existing table? If so, that may not work
so well. Try just pasting into a location where tables are legal and it
should work OK. It will create the table for you.

For Ed and Andy, this is one of the enhancements they added in 5.4--you
don't need to go through Excel any more, you can paste a Word table
directly into Arbortext and it does a pretty good job of giving you what
you want. Ditto for multiple paragraphs, bullet lists, etc. Very slick.

No, I'm not trying to copy a table in a table. It's strange that I can use table (from tabular text) but the other table options (table with no title and table with title) gives me an error. I tried blanking out the “pastesource” advanced preference but that deleted my paste special option altogether.
I guess I’llcontinue doing itthe long way through excel.
    Thanks

Are you using Paste Special? Don't. Just use standard paste (Ctrl-V).
    That should work.
