Arbortext Editor 8.3.3 Licensing Error

I just purchased and installed Arbortext Editor 8.3.3 with Desktop Composer. I was able to download and install the application with no apparent issues. However, when I launched Arbortext Editor for the first time I received this error message:

Licensing Error

[A31679] Arbortext Editor was not able to obtain a license

The PTC_D_LICENSE_FILE is not defined, so there are no license sources.

Details: Requesting Arbortext Editor…

c:\flexlm\license.dat: (-1) Cannot find license file.

I think I can resolve the issue if I can find the license file, but I am getting conflicting information on this web site.

I am sure there is a simple solution, but apparently finding the solution is not so simple.

Thanks for the reply. This is for a single user, locked license. After posting this question, I went to my account on the PTC site and clicked the Manage Licenses link. I downloaded a license file. Updated the variable to point to the license file and received an error that the license was in the wrong format. Repeated the procedure and received an error that the license “isn’t for this machine.” I opened a ticket to request a license.

Are you one user or many with a server? If only one, in the system variables under environmental variables add the PTC_D_LICENSE_FILE variable. For the value lead it to the license file location on your C:. Make sure the mac address is correct also in the license file.

Did you check that the mac address in the license file and the computer are the same? are you using a laptop with a docking station?

Thanks for the reply. It is still a mystery why my use of Self-Service did not work. I am sure it is something simple. I opened a ticket which quickly resulted in a resolution for the issue. Now, it is on to bigger issues!
