Arbortext Technical Committee meetings in Anaheim?

Hi everyone,

Does the session below (from Anica's announcement a couple of weeks ago)
replace the Arbortext Technical Committee meetings?

*PTC SLM Technical Advisory Group scheduled in Anaheim for June 13 – 14,
2013*

Additionally, PTC is organizing a new dedicated user community to support
the Arbortext technical information software users. Additional forums will
also be provided specific to Service Lifecycle Management (SLM)
technologies such as warranty and service parts management, among others.
Immediately following PTC Global Live, PTC will host advisory group
meetings for 2 days – at no charge for existing Arbortext users – that will
provide product updates, roadmap discussions and topics that provided by
the Arbortext community. The dates are scheduled for Thursday, June 13 and
Friday, June 14. The proposed topics and agenda will follow soon. We
anticipate that these Technical Advisory Groups will continue throughout
the year. Please note we have a tentative plan to host a SLM Community
Reception on Wednesday, June 12.

Thanks.

I think you could really win big playing Buzzword Bingo with these announcements.

I feel that perhaps the "Arbortext community" has become disheartened and cynical (like me!) over PTC's perceived (or more likely, actual) lack of interest in Arbortext software. These "afterthought" announcements seem like Band-Aids thrown out there to stop the hemorrhaging of long-time Arbortext users. Not that these users are leaving Arbortext (although some of them may be) but they are losing interest.

OTOH, maybe I'm just a "glass half empty" kind of a guy and things aren't as gloomy as they seem to me.

I'm off to take my medication now.

    I hear you Ed.

But here is an "I hope the glass is half full" view (or is it a wish, not a
view?). PTC and PTC/User (not necessarily in coordination) are abandoning
the Technical Committee model for Arbortext users which never really seemed
to work for us. I came "late" to the game, and by that I mean post-AUGI.
But it seemed to me that the Arbortext culture of users / developers /
admins / partners was not suited to the TC model that honestly seems to
work really well for the bulk of PTC customers (well, core product users,
less or not at all for "acquired" users). So, reading between the lines of
Anica's latest announcement and inferring the best possible outcome, maybe
PTC is creating a day-and-a-half Arbortext-only conference following the
main conference that will be company run (not TC based), address Arbortext
only issues (putting all of us literally back in one room ... at least this
year), avoid mentioning SIS as much as possible 😉 include product road
maps and presentations (but not mentioning SIS 😉 and soliciting our
feedback on whatever is being developed (but not SIS 😉

    Oh, and it's free.

That could work, right? Then maybe next year they could provide a facility
and a spot on the schedule for a demo jam. Maybe one user presentation. And
grow from there. See, that glass is half-full.

Not trying to contaminate your Cheerios, but:

Free, except for travel/lodging/meal/rental car costs.

"We anticipate that these Technical Advisory Groups will continue throughout the year."

I can't even justify going once a year, let alone several times.

Time for my afternoon medication dosage.

No doubt. I was just observing that there is no conference fee ...

by the by, I have learned that Anica is out this week and that folks close
to the Arbortext TCs expect (hope) to hear something near week's end or
    first thing next.

It's only free if you've registered for PTC Live. It does have a fee
    otherwise.

    It just keeps getting better!

Most likely then, the "throughout the year" Technical Advisory Groups for Arbortext will not be in association with PTC Live and will therefore have a separate fee.

According to an e-mail I just received from Anica (from her mobile from
somewhere outside the US), those days are fee-free with or without a full
registration to PTC Live. (As Ed pointed out, travel costs will still
apply.) Also, Anica is working on the agenda ... we should see it end of
    week or early next.

Seems the website doesn't know that.

    Service Exchange Registration Fees:

Ah ... this is not the Service Exchange event we are talking about. This is
a two-day Arbortext event Thu/Fri only announced (as far as I can tell) in
an adepters e-mail Anica sent in reply on some earlier e-mail thread. I
quoted just that event at the top of this thread.
