Architect DTD Editor - Unable to Write DTD when Saving

Hello,

I am attempting to modify and save a DTD within the Arbortext Architect DTD Editor6.0 on Windows 7 (64 bit).
However, whenever I try and save the DTD, I get "ERROR: could not write DTD file C:\***.dtd".

I have checked permissions on this folder and even tried moving and writing to it on a different drive, but each time I get the same error.

Has anyone else encountered this ?

All works OK on previous versions.

Thanks,

Andy

    Jason,

Yes, in Win7 there is a difference between the 'Administrator' user account and named user accounts with 'administrator' rights. The Administrator user account is often hidden in the user account list.

    Hi Lynn,

In my case the doctype is in a 'development' area, I'm the only one with access to it. There is the possibility that the file is seen as 'in use' following a previous open and some sort of failure on the close. The server has been restarted two or three times in the history of this problem (after power outages) so I would have thought a faulty close should have been cleaned up.

    Hi David,

    I just get "Validation failed".

Agree - running as administrator makes no difference.

It's on the local PC but I have attempted trying it from my server but still no difference.

    Thanks,

    Andy

    Hello Andy,

Here are a few thoughts that come to mind, in no particular order...

    - Is the validation failing on just one DTD or all DTDs?

    - XML or SGML?

    - Does AA correctly determine that the DTD is either XML or SGML?

    - Are you able to parse the DTD with another parser such as XMLSpy?

    - In Options/Preferences/Advanced is 'validationmode' set to either 'all' or 'dtd'?

    Cheers,

    David
