Error Message for Isoview

Hello Everyone,
We are getting an error message that states "Error 50 Cannot start Server" has anyone seen this in relation to Isoview? Do you know what it means? Or what the solution is?

Hi, Sindy...

I think we need a little more context.  What were you doing when this
error occurred and what did you expect to happen (or did everything
work as expected, with the error seeming superfluous)?  What versions
of Isoview, Editor, etc. are you on?

Got some details offline, posting here for posterity. On a Windows
Vista system with IsoView 7 and Internet Explorer 6, the user
attempted to open a CGM, expecting the IsoView ActiveX plugin to be
invoked to display the image, but got the "Error 50" message, instead.

I'm a bit out of my element on this one, but from what I've gathered,
it appears that the IsoView plugin is not getting started correctly.
(In ActiveX terminology, a plugin/component is called a "server".)
Some resources suggest that turning off the Vista User Account Control
(UAC) feature solves the problem, but that's not an option for many
users (violating company security policies and all that fun stuff).

Perhaps the plugin was not installed correctly or maybe it needs some
change in configuration so as not to run afoul of Vista's security
measures. Unless someone else here has a solution, I'd call PTC
support on this (and maybe summarize the results back here for others'
future reference).

If you google isoview error 50 you get some info as well. You probably already tried this.

I'm not an Isoview expert, but I would sure play one on TV if there was a market for it and the terms were acceptable with my agent. 😉
