Hi All,

I need more understanding on data flow between Pro-E, Windchill and
Arbortext Iso-draw.

Once any assembly or part created in pro-E and if I check in that as a
e-BOM in windchill, it will get published and
have its own representation.

Now I want to make an illustration using the e-bom from windchill. How can
I use that representation(.ol/.pvs files) from windchill?
Again if i made change in e-bom in pro-e and again i checked in that in
windchill, How my illustration directly updates?

Is Anybody having Idea? Please help.

Thanks,
Manisha

You should use IsoDraw Workgroup Manager to connect to Windchill from IsoDraw.

Then use File - Place in IsoDraw to get the visualized data and to keep the link with the data.

Check the "Arbortext IsoDraw User’s Reference" and "Windchill WGM for IsoDraw User's Guide" for more info.

I've also attached a slide explaining the how Windchill - IsoDraw - Arbortext Editor integration works

    Dear Dmitry,

Is IsoDraw Workgroup Manager free? I installed Isodraw, Windchill, Cero and Arbortext Editor. I want to link Isodraw and Windchill now.

    Thanks.

    Hi Dmitry,

    Thanks for the information.
I am using WGM for connecting to Windchill from Iso-draw.

I need more information on How I can use an Windchill object in my
illustration. so that if windchill object change, it will automatically
    get updated in my
    illustration.

What I need to place from windchill to Isodraw file so that it will be
    linked?

    Thanks & Regards,
    Manisha

Manisha, use "File - Place" when putting data from Windchill to IsoDraw (you must have a Post-Publishing configured on your Windchill installation to be able to re-use published visualization - see WC Business Admin Guide, chapter "Visualization Services", section "Publish Rules").

    Here is how it works:

    1) Upon Checkin of a CAD object, after the representation is created and stored, the EPMPostPublishDelegate creates a ProductView archive file (PVZ) of the representation’s content and stores the archive to a new EPMDocument.

    2) Use "File - Place" to put this new "post-published" EPMDocument into IsoDraw, create the illustration and then save illustration to Windchill. This will be separate Illustration object.

Since the "post-published" EPMDocument is associated with the original CAD and your Illustration is associated with the "post-published" EPM, here is what happens if the original CAD gets iterated:

    1) "Post-published" EPMDocument gets iterated/updated too.

    2) Your Illustration gets marked as "outdated" in Windchill. As soon as you openit for editing, depending on the settings for the placed file (see attached screenshot), your Illustration will be automatically updated or you will be notified that the source CAD was changed.

PS I could compile a video overviewing the configuration process and "basic" demo, but a bit overwhelmed with work now. Let me know what you managed to do yourself and I will help you with the rest.
