PNG graphic resolution

Hi,

I'm trying to get PNG images to scale properly in Editor with
Styler (APP Engine, 6.0 M030).

The Editor documentation (from the Help) says that to have PNG
scale properly to the dimensions embedded in the PNG itself, you
should "set APTPNGUSERES=y":
* By default, Arbortext Editor ignores any PNG resolution setting and uses a setting of 72 dpi. To set Arbortext Editor to recognize embedded PNG resolution settings, set the value of <APTPNGUSERES">http://127.0.0.1:61832/aeHelp/../aeAdmin/help17.html#help17>APTPNGUSERES to any value except n or N
It's not clear to me where this should be set. Just typing it in
the command bar results in an error "unexpected argument: APTPNGUSERES=y".

Thanks for any suggestions,
Richard Steadman

    Hi Richard--

That's an environment variable. You would set this in your operating
system before starting up Arbortext. (If you configure it as a System
variable, you may need to reboot before Arbortext will "see" it.)

Thanks Clay - that worked for the editor view.

For some reason the images are not scaled properly in the PDF
output from Styler - I suppose that's a different issue!

    Regards,
    Richard.

    Hi Richard--

That's right--Styler has several graphic attributes that control how
graphics are scaled in print/PDF output. You'll need to check your DCF
file to see how your DTD's graphic attributes are mapped to formatting
attributes that Styler recognizes, and the Stylesheet to see if it is
    overriding anything.

Well, the graphics have no XML attributes to worry about, so it
should just use the default processing.

I also noticed that when APTPNGUSERES is set to "y" AND the print
engine is set to use FOSI, then the PNG images are also scaled
properly in the PDF. But when using APP, the images are not scaled.
So maybe that's one for tech support...

    Thanks again,
    Richard

    Hi Richard--

I think you're right, if it's working for FOSI but not APP, that sounds
    like one for tech support.
