I am using Import to process FrameMaker MIF files. The cross-references arepreprocessed into the ppXML as <link> elements. My final XML output has 22spaces before and after the output element (<fm_link>) and 26 just insidethe opening of fm_link.There are no such spaces in the source or the ppXML.The full set of ppXML tags associated with one instance looks something likethis:<paragraph style="bu" ...="><link ...="><specialtext style="bold"&lt;br"/>...>sometext</specialtext></link>moretext</paragraph>I have omitted most of the attribute values for clarity. My MapObjects forbu and SPECIALTEXT/@emphasis-bold are unremarkable and don't produce anyunexpected behavior anywhere else.Has anyone seen this behavior before?-- Paul Nagai
Hi,My import map (FrameMaker MIF to XML) is emitting: morerows="0" namest="1" nameend="1"on every <entry> (namest/end values increase with column position).I'm trying to modify the "Only Output Attribute if XPath is True:" dialog toonly output something if namest != nameend and morerows if !=0.Anyone know the right way to present the XPath syntax in that box?@namest != @nameendDoes not work.Neither do:@morerows !=0@morerows !="0"-- Paul Nagai
Hi all,I am getting down to the wire on this manual and still have a few things not figured out that I am sure somebody could help me with.I need the running header to be able to wrap text but kind of have two columns, so sounds like an alignment group to me. but something is just not working. Do I need to use pseudo tags around my text, instead of just on the usetext? Or do I have the algroup not used correctly?<header nomdepth="10mm" spaflow="2mm"> <usetext source="RH.verso.outside.txt[TO]"> <subchars charsubsetref="left" bold=" font_helvetica=" block&quot;="> <indent leftind="0" rightind="159mm" firstln="0"/"> <algroup refpoint="bottom"> </subchars> </usetext> <usetext source="RH.verso.inside.txt[TO]"> <subchars charsubsetref="right" bold=" font_helvetica=" block&quot;="> <indent leftind="20mm" rightind="0" firstln="0"/"> </subchars> </usetext> <ruling thick="1pt" lentype="rel" rellen="col" type="sing
I've got a FOSI that I have inherited and I'm trying to cleanup all the warnings I can before I start making my own modifications. I've got the following message which I'm trying to understand in the context of whatever the person before me was trying to do. Here is the warning: [A28114] Warning: Composition cannot support a change of within a pageset (from 216.81pt to 243.91pt). Hi all,During processing with the DITA-OT, a stage3.fo file is created. It shows all the publication content with style definitions. Does anyone know if there's a complement in Arbortext? We're looking for a way to check our output against the style requirements.Best,Anne
I have inherited a FOSI that has been broken up into modules (entities) to manage the common parts. I'm now trying to make some changes to this FOSI. I had played around with it last year sometime and at some point it looks like the FOSI got flattened to one file. I was using the FOSI editor and I'm wondering if that flattened the content on me. Anyway I'm trying to figure out what I might have done to cause this. The only automated tool I used was the FOSI editor or directly opening the FOSI in Arbortext. any ideas on what might have happened or tips on how to manage this environment? ..dan --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Danny Vint Specializing in Panoramic Images
I'm working on a new XSL-FO stylesheet. I have my sections to always start on an odd page which will produce a blank page if the previous section ends on an odd page. My problem is that I need to the page number to show the blank page. So if the last page number in the section is Page 3 the page number should display as Page 3/Page 4 Blank.I've tried fo:marker with fo:page-number-citaition but can't quite get the result that I need.If anyone has successfully done this I would appreciate any help.Sarah
Hello Adepters,This isn't strictly Arbortext-related, but since many of you also work with XSLT, I wanted to point out a new release of XSpec, an open-source unit test framework for XSLT and XQuery, that I've been helping out a bit with. It's hosted at
Hello Adepters,Is there a simple command to programmatically expand/collapse divisions? Specifically, I'm trying to set up Arbortext so that whenever a document of a certain doctype is opened, certain divisions are displayed as collapsed content.I found the "detail" command, but I can't get it to do what I want. Will I just need to loop over elements and collapse them individually in ACL?Thanks,-James
Peter,Did you work with Chris Western @ tformat ? They just put on a 3b2user meeting last week. I think it would be great if you all couldbring the whole "Arbortext" line together under one meeting.Liz

Hi Adepters,If margins in a page set are set to 1" right and left, what could cause the output to behave differently? The left margin is less than an inch and the right margin displays as more than an inch. We're using a table to build a front cover with these right and left 1"margins. The margins are just the beginning of a whole host of very specific measurements that are wacky in the output. i.e., we need a column that is 4.4", and have to set it in Styler to 4.62" to have it print correctly. The 'conversion' doesn't appear to be consistent.Has anyone seen similar behavior?Best,Anne
Hi I've joined the PTC forum newly. I've a requirement to add the unit convertor in Isodraw. Is this can be done in Isodraw? Can anyone help on this?
Please excuse my lack of knowledge of this product. I have just been tasked to install and learn. Arbortext. It is a first time use for me. I look forward to learning this but I have a few questions regarding the various extentions used with the product. 1. Can I assume the .rpt is a report output? I know this sounds really simple, but the application has not been setup on my machine yet and my supervison is asking me details they can pass on to their customer. I appreciate any assistance. Thanks

Perhaps you are one of those who has been lulled into a false sense of stability by doing the same thing, the same way you always have, and using the same ‘ole tools. Hi All, I am interested in organising the "Arbortext 'Classic' User Group Meeting in the UK" as we haven't had one for quite a while and things have moved on a bit in regards to technology and PTC/Arbortext as an organisation. This email is an early warning of the intention to organise this and a call for ideas of what people would find useful and interesting in terms of logistics and content, e.g. When should we do it? Where should we do it? How long should it last? What should be the focus? Which guest speakers should we invite? All suggestions and ideas welcome. Editor v5.3 has suddenly stopped opening; Architect and Styler as well. Keeps trying to open .xsd, which we don't use, and won't let me browse to correct DTD. Nothing works to resolve this - not new install, even with all v5.3.0... removed from 'regedit.' Has anyone else had this problem? Suggestions?
Hello, I need to install the M032 patch for Arbortext Editor 5.3. Does anyone know where I can download this from ? Regards, Andy Leslie
