Question

Header and footer with content defined from inside the worksheet.

We have been asking from Prime 9 for the possibility to have variables in Header/Footer to be able to include information like project number, name, document number, revision index etc. which are read from the excel file where all the input values are located.

I mean, at the beginning of the worksheet, we have a collapsible area where we read an excel file containing the input values to be processed, including project name, number etc. but that general information is to be used in the header/footer of the workseet.

Has this possibility been included in Prime 12?  Or do need to continue waiting for it?

P.S.: thanks for the new option header/footer different on page 1!  That was also needed.

Hi Miguel,

Right now, header and footers do not participate in calculation - this is on purpose, as we’d have repeated regions that participate in calculation at the start and end of each page. However, I understand the use case for allowing strings to be managed in that way in the header/footer for documentation identification purposes - I spent a lot of my early career writing definition documents for parts of radar systems, and the process sometimes seemed just as involved as the content.

I can’t say I have concrete plans for something like you suggest right now, but I will pass this idea on to our technical product manager to see if it’s something we can flesh out and understand what the requirements for it would be - the problem here is that people want to add document identification items to a Mathcad worksheet programmatically from a single source of truth. It’s a good suggestion - thank you.

Many thanks,

Andy.
