Job Management: How can we start and manage a regular job?

Our customer would like us to set up a job that regularly polls a directory and if data is found, it should be imported into Codebeamer (CB). It's about a daily job that runs in the background and validates and processes external data.

 

We had hoped that CB's Job Manager would fulfill this task, but it is only used for reports and we have not found any other option yet.

 

Does anyone have an idea how to implement this requirement with CB?

Hello VolkerE,

 

How is the external data stored? Codebeamer allows integrations with the Jira platform or external SCM Repositories (Azure, Github etc), so these could be an option.

Hello Christina,

 

Thank you for your idea. Unfortunately, neither Jira nor an SCM tool applies here.
It's about jobs that import data from external tools as a file. I'm also thinking about jobs that do validations of existing data or copy data between projects, something like that. These are all long jobs, nothing that can be finished in 1-2 seconds. it takes more like 3-4 minutes.

 

I would really like to use the standard job manager, but I don't know how to use it for my own process.
