Test runs and custom test data import

I wanted to inquire about how customizable Test Runs are within Codebeamer, specifically the backend functionality, to accept custom data that is not limited to the out-of-the-box Codebeamer template, but rather a custom Excel, or something along the lines. Would this involve any reprogramming of the Java scripts on the backend? Is there any insight that can be shared?
