CGM files - Need Help

Hello all,

I have a customer that needs me to open a .CGM (Computer Graphics Metafile) file in ProE WF 4, make some changes and then exporting it out as a .CGM.

The problem I am having is that ProE does not see the file or does not recognize it.

Does anyone have any experience with this problem?

Many Thanks,

TCW

This old format each year has fewer and fewer CAD software supporting it, maybe this can help you:

There is a trial if this kind of work is not constant.

PRO|E has this option when opening a file, you've said that PRO|E was not able to see the file, nowthat's weird, try to check the extension of the file and use the option "All files"in the "Open" dialog box.

but depending which software generated the CGM it can generate issues regarding different sizes from the original and imported/exported files in/from PRO|E, there is a document from PTC about it:

If ProE can not see the file, then my guess is that is has spaces in the
filename or other special characters. Rename and try again.

And in some places (e.g. WF4 Manufacturing Postprocessing) spaces in folder names somewhere up the tree of the working directory cause silent refusal to work. It made me smile (grimace perhaps) when I read the comment, in the thread on Pro|E on Macs, about PTC working so closely with Microsoft. A Vista like file open dialog and a ribbon does not make a Windows application :=)
