Question

Damping...percentage or decimal?

Good morning Sim,

There is some disparity between a couple of resources over whether the
damping value on the Dynamic analysis UI is supposed to be input as a whole
number (percentage) or a decimal (ie, 3 or 0.03 for 3 percent). The
discussions I found here in the archives don't seem to address this
directly. The PTC KB indicates it is a percentage...a trusted resource has
heard decimal.

Thanks in advance,

    3 for 3 percent

So for metals, I use 0.7 for 0.7% of critical damping
