How can I draw a 2D contour of my component?

If I have a 3D model and would like to use it's outline geometrie in order to build another model with is slightly different to the first one, how do I proceed with this?

    You can use the project geometry functionality to brinng the contour of the original model to a workplane, and then modify and extrude the profile to generate your new model. The question is, wether that makes sense
