Loading Customizations into Creo...

Hello All,

New to Creo Parametric and I am wondering if there is a hierarchy on how customizations are loaded into a Creo 2.0 or Creo 3.0 session?

Example: Out of box files first, corporate or site files next and then user level.

    Hi Thomas,

    for config.pro Settings:

    1. install dir ..\Creo 3.0\M100\Common Files\text\config.pro

    2. %homedrive%%homepath%\config.pro

    3. Creo Start Dir \config.pro

    for UI settings

    1. install dir ..\Creo 3.0\M100\Common Files\text\creo_parametric_admin_customization.ui

    2. %appdata%\PTC\ProENGINEER\Wildfire\.wf\.Settings\creo_parametric_customization.ui

    3. if you have set the config.pro "load_ui_customization_run_dir" to yes, then Start Dir\creo_parametric_customization.ui

    that should be the right order, but please check

    There is actually an important element in your question.

    Out of the box, Creo creates a default shortcut location from where it starts.

    For your own flavor, you can build a new start folder from a copy of the default shortcut.

    The standard windows desktop shortcut properties will let you change the start folder.

    From there, it will read whatever version of config.pro is in this location.

    There are also UI settings files that are read in from your user profile in windows.

    It is worth digging into this subject.  As someone who has many different configs, I have many Creo shortcuts on my desktop.  Each sets up the config for that particular client.  You can also read in config.pro files once the program is open, however, some setting have to be set while the program is booting.  Not many, but some obscure ones.
