Newbie - designing a door handle

Hi - I'm brand new with 3D modelling. Have been playing around with Element/DM Express and getting used to the tools and capability.

One thing I don't know how to do is create a hollow door handle. I want to build in the following aspects which is what I'm finding difficult:

  • I want a curved handle that comes perpendicular out of the door and sweeps through to the handle
  • It needs to be hollow
  • It needs to be split horizontally so that the top and bottom parts come away leaving me to build in some internal workings
  • I also want to build various dips in the handle profile where your fingers wrap round.

Can all of this be done in DM Express?

If so, can someone point to any tutorials that I can watch that helps me make the above model? They can be 4 separate tutorials.

Or can someone give me some clues on how to create or tools I need to use?

Thanks

Arjay
