And on WF2 it doesn't work with Reference Patterns

    Terry,
I think you have hit on the biggest risk with using this functionality. If
you want to make your drawing notes parametric (and who doesn't?), then you
will have trouble, because (at least in WF2) the hidden instances are
counted in the total number of instances. Thus, for a pattern of 10 holes, 3
of which are hidden, the note "&p31 holes" will show as 10 holes, even though
the 3 that are hidden should not be included.

    It's nearly very good indeed...

It does on build M280; I just redefined a pattern to omit two instances, and
when I regenerated the next level assembly, the inserts that were reference
patterned to it vanished. The number of instances in the note also updated
    to reflect the omitted instances.

Very strange, though - why would it work correctly in WF 2 and not in WF 4?
Did they break it on an update, or add a config option and made the default
counter to what most people would want? Not like we haven't seen that
    before...

Terry - did you do a regen before checking the note? Perhaps it didn't
update the number of instances because it hadn't recalculated everything?

It doesn't work on M170 of WF3 either. Its possible that the M280 build
of WF3 was done later than M170 of WF3 though.

    No, must be a regression.
WF2m280 was released in Dec 2007
    WF3m170 was released 29 Aug 2008
