Preselect Items to move to a Layer

Is there any way to preselect items and assign them to a layer in Wildfire 2.0?

I would like to write a mapkey to create a mark-up note and assign it to a specific layer. If preselection for layers was supported it would be possible since after a note is created it is still selected.

    Have you have a look to rule based layers?
